Rumor has it that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has expressed interest in acquiring ARM Holdings plc (NASDAQ:ARMH). ARM’s stock price shot up as a result. ARM designs CPU designs for a variety of Apple devices include the iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad. “A deal would make a lot of sense for Apple,” stated a trader. “That way, they could stop ARM’s technology from ending up in everyone else’s computers and gadgets.” The takeover offer is rumored to be about $8 billion. Apple has about $41.7 billion in cash reserves. [MacRumors]
