AT&T plans to delay Internet tethering on the iPhone because high traffic uses on mobile devices could hamper network performance. Tethering is the ability for a mobile device to act as an Internet service provider for a laptop or desktop computer. Below is a statement that Engadget received from AT&T:
iPhone tethering has the potential to exponentially increase traffic, and we need to ensure that we’re able to deliver excellent performance for the feature ? over and above the increases in data traffic we’re already seeing before we will offer the feature. [Engadget]
