CenturyTel, Inc. (NYSE:CTL) has decided to acquire Qwest Communications International (NYSE:Q) for $10.6 billion through a stock-swap arrangement. CenturyTel will assume $11.8 billion in net debt too. This gives Qwest an enterprise value of $22.4 billion.

CBS anchorwoman Katie Couric has interview Twitter co-founder Biz Stone during a live “webshow” earlier this week. Couric asked Stone why they decided to have 140 characters and why they rejected Facebook’s offer. One thing I did not like about the video is how Couric called mobile payments “boring” when talking about Jack Dorsey’s business. Check out the video below:

Before overreacting and protest, be aware that that the original Hulu will still exist. But Hulu is likely to start a premium version called Hulu Plus, which will cost $9.95 per month possibly to access old episodes of TV shows and/or for additional movies. Should Netflix be worried? The New York Life Insurance company was threatened with “cyber extortion” from a California man named Anthony Digati. He was arrested on March 6th and was formally charged in Manhattan federal court recently. Some of the threats include posting on many forums, e-mailing, and dissing them on social networks

Paris, France based music widget company MXP4 has received $4 million in funding. The company was founded by former execs at Musiwave, Vivendi, EMI Music, and DivX. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is working on a new SYNC Applink software application for Android and BlackBerry smartphones for the 2011 Fiesta. The new SYNC AppLink will integrate apps using the vehicle’s voice and user interface controls.
