Google acquired reCAPTCHA in September of last year to help secure some of their websites and to help computers learn to read scanned text. About 7 months after the acquisition took place, reCAPTCHA co-founder Ben Maurer left the company to join Facebook. “With all the growth Facebook has seen comes unique challenges in scaling systems. I’m looking forward to working on this,” wrote Maurer on his blog. [TechCrunch]
