Groupon Acquires Mob.ly and Opens An Office In Palo Alto
Daily deal website Groupon.com has acquired mobile development firm Mob.ly for an undisclosed amount. The company has also opened up an office in Palo Alto, California. Groupon also hired former Netflix executive Mark Johnson as the new Chief Data Officer.
“Now there is no excuse to not work for us,” stated Groupon founder and CEO Andrew Mason in a press release. “And Chicago is still super cool. Did you know that we have the largest water filtration plant in the continental United States? Great city, can’t understand why people wouldn’t want to move here, but whatever — now we’re in the Valley too.”
Mob.ly helps clients design applications for major companies including Yahoo!, Digg, Comedy Central, NBC, and Digg. [TechCrunch]This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
