Why You Should Not Joke About Bomb Threats On Twitter (#twitterjoketrial)

Paul Chambers sent out a tweet on January 6th that stated “Robin Hood airport is closed.” He added “You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!” One week later he was arrested. The reason he sent out that tweet was because snowfall threatened his potential trip to travel to Ireland on January 15th.

Chambers was arrested under a Terrorism Act and they showed him a piece of paper with his tweet printed out on it. Now there is a Twitter trend about the case that is called #twitterjoketrial. Chambers’ case will take place in a few days.
