Matias Duarte, the former VP of Human Interface and User Experience at Palm is joining the Google as the User Experience Director for Android.  Duarte was responsible for leading the team that designed the Palm webOS.  This is a significant departure for Palm, which was recently acquired by Hewlett-Packard.  HP said that they were planning to “double down” on webOS and they are expecting to release a tablet powered by Palm’s operating system in the near future.
