Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4. Beta 4 has a new feature built in: tethering. Under the Network feature in the Settings menu, there is a button that says Set Up Internet Tethering. The biggest problem with Internet Tethering through AT&T is that it doesn’t come cheap. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is suing salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE:CRM) over the alleged infringement on nine patents. The lawsuit was filed at a federal court in Seattle. Microsoft is seeking monetary damages and temporary or permanent injunctions.

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) acquired Palm Inc. recently. HP planned to use Palm’s proprietary webOS operating system for future devices including web-connected printers. The announcement about the printers was made by HP CEO Mark Hurd. HP also reported profits were up 25% this quarter to about $2.9 billion. Total revenues were $30 billion. [Engadget]

Social gaming company Playdom has acquired Acclaim Games. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Acclaim is known for building MMORPG games. Acclaim developed a Facebook game called RockFree and planned due to release another game this summer.

I have to agree with Consumer Reports on this one. A promo video by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for the Kin mobile device comes off as being creepy. Adam Sandler has acquired the rights to a viral video called “Pixels.” Pixels came out about a week ago and was created by Patrick Jean of Onemoreproduction. The viral video depicts a bunch of retro video game characters taking over New York City. The acquisition was made through Adam Sandley’s Happy Madison production company. Happy Madison bought the rights to the video with the help of Columbia Pictures. Below is the original Pixels video:

OnStar is working with Google on a mobile application that will enable Chevy Volt customers to have one of the most connected vehicle experiences. OnStar will demo the product at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco from May 19-May 20.
