Hon Hai Precious Industry, parent company of Foxconn announced a wage increase by about 20% for employees at the Foxconn division in China. Employee wages will be increased from $131 per month to $157 per month.

Foursquare recently sent out a tweet about how around 10 people are checking in every second. Foursquare is adding about 15,000 new users every day and several weeks ago they passed 1 million users.

There’s a lot happening in the news lately about the BitTorrent client. Most recently hosting company of the torrent search engine The Pirate Bay was sent an injunction by the recording industry. Verizon Wireless and LG Electronics today announced that the LG Ally phone is now available for purchase. This is the first Android device from LG. Specs include full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, microSD slot for up to 16GB of memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.2″ tempered glass touch screen, built-in MP3 and WMA. Below is the full press release:

The Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) Streak tablet computer will be available this summer and will run on the Google Android operating system. The device will be launching in the U.K. early next month and will be released in the U.S. and Europe later in the summer.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is preparing to shut down the Mercury brand according to several reports.  Mercury started in 1939 by Edsel Ford.  Ever since 2000, Mercury’s sales plunged by about 74%.

Matias Duarte, the former VP of Human Interface and User Experience at Palm is joining the Google as the User Experience Director for Android.  Duarte was responsible for leading the team that designed the Palm webOS.  This is a significant departure for Palm, which was recently acquired by Hewlett-Packard.  HP said that they were planning to “double down” on webOS and they are expecting to release a tablet powered by Palm’s operating system in the near future. The BP America Twitter account was temporarily hacked and the message above was sent out.  BP spokesman Mark Salt sent out an explanation about the above tweet.  It appeared on the account for about 30 minutes before it was deleted.  “The comment was posted by someone not involved in the response who gained access to our twitter. We have removed the inaccurate posting and made changes to the account to stop this from happening again,” said Salt.  BP is also trying to figure out how to handle a parody Twitter account that is tweeting out funny messages about the oil company.  [BusinessInsider]
