T2 Biosystems Inc. has raised $15 million from 9 different investors. The company plans to use the funding to accelerate development and commercialization for its diagnostic platform. The investment round was led by Physic Ventures. Other investors include Arcus Ventures, RA Capital Management LLC, Camros Capital LLC, WS Investments Company, Flagship Ventures, Polaris Venture Partners, Flybridge Capital Partners, and Partners Healthcare of Boston. Volkswagen has acquired Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign. Volkswagen Group bought a 90.1% stake in IDG. Now Volkswagen owns IDG’s stake in brand name rights and patents. Audi’s Italian subsidiary Lamborghini Holding S.p.A. was responsible for the acquisition. The Giugiaro family will keep the remaining 9.9% share. [TheTruthAboutCars]

Carl C. Icahn has acquired an 8.5% stake in Lawson Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:LWSN). Icahn now plans to discuss the business operations with Lawson’s management. Icahn is also currently in a battle for taking over Lions Gate Entertainment. Icahn said he bought stake in the company because he felt that the shares were undervalued. [NY Times]

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) has acquired location-based service Koprol. It is an Asian version of Foursquare. Koprol is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Koprol also lets you check-in to locations through mobile phones. The service is a web application so smartphones are not needed. However Koprol recently announced a Blackberry application. Google has hired the team behind online travel guide website Ruba.com. The team behind Ruba will be working on iGoogle and other projects.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been selling over 200,000 iPads per week. These figures represent a number that is higher than Mac computer sales. The iPhone 3GS is estimated to be selling 246,000 per week. RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky also speculates that the next generation iPhone (codenamed: iPhone HD) could sell 23 million units.
