Vocus Acquiring PR Company Help A Reporter Out

Software-as-a-Service company Vocus has announced the acquisition of Help A Reporter Out (HARO) for an undisclosed amount. HARO founder Peter Shankman will join Maryland-based Vocus. Vocus is a software company that started in 1992 and is public.

HARO is a website where sources and reporters connect through social media. HARO started out as a Facebook group, but grew from there. About four years ago Vocus acquired online PR company PRWeb. Combining PRWeb’s service with HARO sounds very fitting.
