Web.com has made an agreement to acquire Register.com for a price of $135 million.  Register.com is a domain name registration company that Web.com plans to integrate as a lead generation tool for other services such as hosting and web site template design.  Register.com is one of the highest priced domain name registration services at a $35/year price point.  Register.com has about 2.36 million domain names registered so far.

However Web.com will now have to deal with an inherited lawsuit from Baidu.  Baidu’s nameservers were changed due to lack of security by one of Register.com’s employees. [Domain Name Wire]
