Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stopped by the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco, California earlier today. Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said this was “one of the most special days in the history of Twitter.”

President Medvedev went up to a computer and sent out his first tweet on a computer (in Russian). When translated into English, he said “Hello everyone, I’m now on Twitter and this is my first message.”

Medvedev also tweeted that Silicon Valley was beautiful. He also plans to visit the offices of Apple, Yandex, and Cisco. Medvedev is also meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and San Francisco mayer Gavin Newsom.
