Yesterday Facebook fixed a glitch that had an error in the reporting of the “monthly active users” for each application.  Even Twitter benefited from the glitch fix because their “monthly active users” application showed a number increase from about 400,000 to nearly 7 million.  Twitter confirmed the number on their applications own page.  [TechCrunch]

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has enhanced the Bing search engine to heavily focus on entertainment.  About 76% of people that use search engines are looking for entertainment options.  Bing Entertainment focuses on Music, Gaming, Movies, and TV.

Transmission 2.0, the BitTorrent client made for Mac and Linux recently launched the an updated version. Transmission 2.0 has a faster startup time, can handle 404 tracker errors better, comes with local peer discovery, optimize download requests, and is more stable. Transmission 2.0 is available as a free download for for Mac and Linux.

Zynga’s newest game FrontierVille has hit 5 million daily active users and the game launched on June 9th. Zynga’s revenues are expected to hit $600 million this year. [BusinessInsider]

Playdom has raised $33 million from Bessemer Venture Partners, Steamboat Ventures, and New World Ventures. No word yet on what Playdom plans to do with the funding, but I would not be surprised if it will be used for additional acquisitions. Playdom’s biggest competitor Zynga raised large sums of funding and launched a new game called FrontierVille. [paidContent]

Social Gaming Network (SGN) has raised funding from Tomorrow Ventures, a VC company started by Google CEO Eric Schmidt.  SGN focuses on making games for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.   This was SGN’s second round of funding at $2 million.  SGN’s previous round of funding was $15 million. Research In Motion has filed a trademark application for the “BlackBerry Drive.” The BlackBerry Drive is described as “Key fobs; non-electric cables and wires of common metal; small items of metal hardware; goods of common metal not included in other classes.” RIM filed for the trademark on June 11th.
