Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced a new version of the Xbox 360 this week.  The new console was announced at Microsoft’s annual E3 conference.  The new Xbox 360 will be slim, have an angular look, will make less noise when powered on.  This console is nicknamed the Xbox Slim and it will cost $299.  This is the same price as the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite system.  The Xbox 360 Slim will have built in 802.11n wireless networking, 250GB hard drive, connector for the Kinect, and five USB ports.  It also comes with a matching colored controller.  The Xbox Arcade price is also being cut to $149 and $249 for the Elite. Ancestry.com Acquires Swedish Genealogy Website Genline For $6.7M

Genealogy conglomerate service Ancestry.com has acquired Swedish genealogy website Genline.se for $6.7 million in cash.  Several months ago, Ancestry competitor MyHeritage.com bought Germany’s OSN Group for an undisclosed amount.  Genline will be integrated into Ancestry.com’s line of global web properties. Genline has about 17,000 paid subscribers with access to 26 million pages of digitized Swedish church records.  These church records go back over 400 years ago to the 16th century.

Twitter Launches Places Feature With Gowalla and Foursquare Support

Twitter has launched a new feature called Places on Twitter.com and Mobile.Twitter.com. This means you can tag tweets with specific places. You will also be able to click a Twitter Place within a tweet. If you want to see recent tweets from that specific location, just click on the link to the Twitter Place. Foursquare and Gowalla will be integrated with theses features. APIs are being released for Twitter Places for third party apps.

On June 4th, Sprint launched the HTC EVO 4G and announced on June 7th that the phone broke all sales records, including the Palm Pre launch.  Two days after that, the story was pulled back due to errors in the numbers.

Zynga Raises $147 Million [REPORT]

Social network gaming company Zynga has raised $147 million (13.5 billion Yen) from Softbank.  As part of the investment, Softbank and Zynga will may enter a distribution agreement.  Zynga would promote their games on Softbank’s mobile phone service in Japan. [BusinessWeek]
