Windows Live Messenger iPhone App Surpasses 1 Million Downloads

The Windows Live Messenger iPhone App was launched last week and hit over 1 million downloads said Michael Chang, Group Product Manager of Windows Live Messenger on the Windows Team Blog. About 24 million people connect on Windows Live Messenger through mobile devices in general in addition to the 1 million iPhone users. “Along with Messenger Connect, Messenger IM in Hotmail, and the coming integration with Xbox LIVE, the new iPhone app is just one more way that we are bringing Messenger to you across the web and on your phone. Hulu Plus Lets You Watch Full Seasons Of Shows For $9.99 Per Month

Jason Kilar, Hulu CEO has announced Hulu Plus, a $9.99 per month service that gives you access to full seasons of specific TV shows. Hulu Plus will work on Samsung Internet-connected TVs, the iPad, and the iPhone. Currently Hulu Plus is a U.S. only service.

Former Facebook CTO Adam D’Angelo Confirms Google Me

Former Facebook CTO Adam D’Angelo has confirmed Google Me. Google Me is an upcoming social network being created by Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) to take on Facebook as first announced by Digg CEO Kevin Rose.

Google Stops Redirecting Google.cn To Google.hk

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) made an announcement back in January that said that they have decided to no longer censor results on Google.cn, the Chinese version of their search engine. Three months after that, Google started redirecting Google.cn traffic to Google.hk, the Hong Kong version of their website.

Mapquest Overhauls User Interface

Mapquest has completely redesigned their user interface. AOL-owned Mapquest.com started about 15 years ago and now has a one-box search for directions, maps, and businesses. There is a My Maps feature that lets you save directions using login from OpenID, AOL, Yahoo!, Google, Facebook, and Twitter. You can add notes, landmarks, short cuts, and anecdotes. Patch’s directory information is also integrated in MapQuest’s search results. The addition of these new features makes finding directions and landmarks more interesting. I may consider switching from Google Maps as my default maps application.

Baidu Plans To Hire U.S. Engineers

Chinese search engine Baidu plans to hire software engineers from the U.S. starting next month. Baidu plans to hire 30 mid to senior level software engineers at a job fair on July 10th in Silicon Valley.

The slides look very real and I have no reason to believe that someone made a fake Windows 8 presentation. Here’s a list of some of the Windows 8 features mentioned in the leaked presentation.
Social Media Is Up 230% Since 2007 [REPORT]

A report created by Simmons New Media reveals that social media use is up 230% since 2007. Now two-thirds of Americans use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social media websites every single day. This is up from 20% in 2007. Of the number of Americans visiting social media websites every day, 43% visit social media websites multiple times per day. Multiple visits are up about 28% compared to last year.

Elevation Partners Invest $120 Million In Facebook

Elevation Partners has made a huge investment in Facebook in a deal worth $120 million. The $120 million investment gives Elevation Partners ownership of 5 million Facebook shares. This past November, Elevation Partners spent $90 million to purchase 2.5 million shares of Facebook. This means Elevation Partners owns 7.5 million shares of Facebook at a $14 billion valuation.
