mSpot Launches Muslc Cloud Service For Android

mSpot is a mobile entertainment company that has launched a music cloud service recently. mSpot allows users to sync their music collection across Android phones, PCs, and Macs. The Android service was launched publicly today. mSpot’s application runs in the background of your computer and manages the uploading of your music library. Libraries, cover art, and ratings can also be uploaded using iTunes.

Amazon.com Adds Audio and Video To Kindle Apps

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has updated the Kindle application for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. There are now audio and video clips embedded in books and magazines in the Kindle apps. Apple iPhone 4 Sales Hit Over 1.7 Million

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has sold about 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices between June 24th and through June 26th. “This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.” The new iPhone features the FaceTime video calling, Retina display, high resolution, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD 720p video recording, 3-axis gyro, and a 40% longer talk time. Social Gaming Company Heyzap Raises $3 Million

Heyzap is a social gaming company that has raised $3 million from Union Square Ventures, Naval Ravikant, and Chris Dixon. Heyzap essentially helps Facebook game developers port their games to other platforms. Currently Heyzap has about 30,000 games distributed to over 220,000 websites. The games are monetized from ads or virtual goods purchased through Heyzap technology. Heyzap will use the funding to expand from 10 employees to about 15 to 20 employees. Heyzap previously raised $650,000 from Union Square Ventures, Ravikant, and Joshua Schachter. [VentureBeat]
PilotHandwriting Used For Making Your Handwriting A Font

PilotHandwriting is a free web service that can convert your handwriting into a font. Using your handwriting font, you can make e-mail more personalized. PilotHandwriting was created by the Pilot pen company. The way it works is as follows: print out a template and write the corresponding letters in each box. Then upload your filled out template back to the website. However the down side is that you cannot download the font you created. You have to compose and send e-mails from the PilotHandwriting website. [Lifehacker]
AOL Sells Off DMS Insights To uSamp

AOL has sold off DMS Insights to online market research company uSamp. Many people did not know AOL owned DMS Insights because the acquisition was made over a decade ago before the Time Warner deal took place. The deal is estimated to be worth about $3-$4 million.
Jena Friedman Parodies NYT “Vows” [VIDEO]

DevTeam Get Root Access To iPhone 4

The “userland” jailbreak vulnerability that is used as part of the Spirit jailbreak tool was not patched by Apple. @planetbeing and @chpwn was able to get root access to the iPhone 4 using code from @comex’s userland jailbreak method. However there won’t be a carrier unlock for the iPhone 4 anytime soon because the baseband runs on a different OS than previous models. This means that the ultrasn0w unlocking tool needs to be completely rewritten. And Joshua Hill said that the unlock won’t be released anytime soon because it contains some of Apple’s proprietary code.

Pat Trueman: ICANN’s Approval Of .XXX Is “Foolish and Unnecessary”

Pat Trueman, the former Chief of the U.S. Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section said that ICANN’s decision on .xxx domain names was “foolish and unnecessary.” Trueman also worked with Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush at the Justice Department. ICANN approved the .xxx top level domain name for websites related to pornography.
