Oscar The Cat Gets Artificial Paws

Oscar the cat is the world’s first bionic cat.  He now has prosthetic paws after losing his limbs because of a combine harvester last October.  Oscar’s metallic legs link the ankle to the foot.  These legs mimic the way that deer antlers grow through skin.

Kate and Mike Nolan, Oscar’s owners took the kitty to the veterinarian in Eashing, a city that is 35 miles southwest of London.  The metallic limbs were the idea of Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick, a neuro-orthopedic surgeon.  The fake paws normally cost about $2,996 to make and does not include the operation itself.
