Who Will Be MySpace’s New Ad Partner?
MySpace, the social network overshadowed by Facebook needs a new ad partner because their deal with Google will be expiring soon. Google made a $900 million agreement with News Corporation for the rights to sell ads across MySpace.com and other News Corp owned websites. However MySpace fell short on traffic and their contract with Google is expiring in August.
News Corporation is currently discussing deals with Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo! about ad space after the original Google contract expires in August. However the ad deal is expected to be for a lot less money. Who do you think will sign up as MySpace’s new ad partner? My guess is Google because they know what to expect out of MySpace with all of the experience they have in dealing with them. Plus Google has the upper had in site-targeted advertising compared to Microsoft and Yahoo! Plus Yahoo! and Microsoft have a lot to deal with in terms of working on their own existing search and advertising partnership.
