Twitter is now handling 800 million search queries per day. Considering that the core purpose of Twitter is sending out bits of information in 140 characters or less, the fact that Twitter is handling 800 million queries per day is impressive. Twitter co-founder Biz Stone announced the search queries milestone at the Aspen Ideas Festival.

If you extrapolate this number across a month, that means that Twitter is handling 24 billion search queries per month. During the Chirp conference in April, Twitter said that they were handling 600 million queries per day.
