Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) will continue their Chinese operations. Last week Google said that they would stop automatically re-routing users from the Google.cn (Google China) to the Google.hk (Google Hong Kong) link. Instead they have placed a Google.hk link on the Google.cn if Internet users in China would like to see uncensored content.
When Google re-routed the Google.cn traffic, Chinese government officials said that they plan to cease the renewal of the Google.cn Internet Content Provider (ICP) license. “China has renewed our license,” said a Google spokeswoman in an interview with Reuters. “We are very pleased that the government has renewed our ICP license and we look forward to continuing to provide web search and local products to our users in China.”
