Apple: Getting A New Cell Tower In S.F. Takes 3 Years
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) said that it takes about 3 years to get new cellphone towers in San Francisco, California. At a press conference on Friday, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs discussed some of the hardships they have had working with AT&T. San Francisco is one of the hardest cities to get cellphone approval in.
“It’s one of the toughest spots to get approvals,” stated Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. “Sometimes I think they should enlist the support of all the iPhone users in the community.”
When AT&T wants a new cellphone tower in Texas, it takes about 3 weeks. San Francisco has a turn-around time of 3 years. “Not all of us want cell towers in our backyard, but we all want good reception,” stated Jobs. “(AT&T has) tried to make them look like banana trees, but still, it’s a problem.”
