Shut Down For Hosting Al-Qaeda Materials

According to a report by CNET, was shut down for allegedly hosting al-Qaeda materials. Initially details were scarce about why WordPress platform and hosting company was shut down, taking out 70,000 blogs with them. BurstNet CTO Joe Marr said that FBI agents informed executives that al-Qaeda was distributing materials on Blogetery servers that included names of American citizens targeted for assassination by al-Qaeda.

According to the FBI, Blogetery had messages from Osama bin Laden and hosted al-Qaeda’s bomb making tips. The shutdown had nothing to do with copyright violations as TorrentFreak speculated this past weekend. [CNET]
