Dell is warning a small number of customers that they have shipped a small number of customers that the PowerEdge R410 server motherboards may have malicious software.
“The potential issue involves a small number of PowerEdge server motherboards sent out through service dispatches that may contain malware,” stated Dell on a support forum. “This malware code has been detected on the embedded server management firmware.”

Dell wrote the response after a customer wrote about being contacted by a Dell technician who wanted to schedule an appointment in order to clean malware on a server.  ”To date we have received no customer reports related to data security,” added Dell.
