Squarespace, a popular hosted content service that started several years ago, has raised $38 million from Accel Partners and Index Ventures. A representative from each VC firm will join the board of directors at Squarespace as a result of this round of funding. Jonathan Klein, founder and CEO of Getty Images is also joining the board.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has acquired Quebec, Canada based mapping company Poly9. A majority of Poly9′s employees have been relocated to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Online medical appointment service ZocDoc has raised $15 million in Series B funding from Founders Fund and Khosla Ventures. ZocDoc now has $20 million in funding with Jeff Bezos and Marc Benioff as previous investors.

The Apple iPhone 4 has just been compared to Microsoft’s Vista, considered by many as one of their worst operating systems. Microsoft’s chief operating officer, Kevin Turner, announced in a keynote speech at Microsoft’s Worldside Partner Conference (WPC), “It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I’m okay with that.”

Earlier this month, I wrote about how Twitter is launching a new account called @Earlybird that will send out deals from brand partners. Twitter announced today that they have just launched their first @earlybird deal with Walt Disney Pictures. The deals offered on @earlybird are exclusive to Twitter and will give people access to deals in fashion, travel, beauty, technology, etc.

According to comScore, Facebook has hit 141 million unique U.S. visitors in June of this year, breaking all previous traffic records. Facebook has almost doubled in traffic every year. In the same month last year, Facebook had about 77 million unique U.S. visitors. Facebook is quickly catching up to Google in traffic according to comScore. Google had 179 million monthly unique visitors across their websites in May 2010. [Mashable]

Intel has just reported their best quarter ever with a $2.9 billion profit based on $10.8 billion revenue. This is an increase of $445 million in profit from last quarter and $3.3 billion from last year. This record breaking quarter was driven by increases in laptop and server chip sales. The Atom processor revenue had a 16% increase. [Engadget]

Social networking company Hi5 has raised $14 million in a second round of funding. Hi5 plans to use the funding to expand their social gaming platform and increase virtual goods. Hi5 started making free games, but virtual decorations require real money. This round of funding was provided by Crosslink Capital and Mohr Davidow. [VentureBeat]
