RIM Buys Blackpad.com Domain Name

MobileCrunch found out that Research In Motion now owns the domain name BlackPad.com. The discovery was made by doing a WHOIS lookup on the domain. Should have used private domain registration eh, RIM. The domain name was registered just a few days ago.

Disney Announces Acquisition Of Social Gaming Company Playdom

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) has announced the acquisition of gaming company Playdom for a deal that is worth as high as $763.2 million. Two hundred million dollars of the deal is connected to a performance-linked pay-out.

Chrevrolet Volt Gets Officially Priced At $41K

GM has made the price of the Chevrolet Volt official. The Volt will cost $41,000 with a $720 destination charge. This is the price of the Volt before the $7,500 federal tax credit, bringing the total cost to $33,500. If you get a three year, the cost is $350 a month after a $2,500 down payment. After the lease, you will also be given a chance to purchase the vehicle. Check out the press release below for more details.

Twitter Is Testing Out New Settings For Inline Media

Twitter is testing out a new feature called “Tweet Media.” this feature was temporarily added to several Twitter accounts. This means videos and photos would be embedded in the stream. The Tweet Media feature asked if you want to see photos and videos from everyone in your Twitter stream.

Apple Announces Magic Trackpad and Faster iMacs
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced a new product called the Magic Trackpad. The Magic Trackpad works with Mac desktops. It operates in a similar manner as the multi-touch trackpad on the MacBook Pro. It supports gestures and connects through Bluetooth. It can be used to replace or work with the mouse. The cost is $69.

2011 Ford Explorer To Create At Least 1,800 New Jobs

Shortly after announcing a profit of $2.6 billion, a 13% increase and beating expectations on Wall Street, Ford has announced the new 2011 Ford Explorer. The new Explorer is expected to create at least 1,800 new jobs including 600 auto supplier jobs across 3 states.

Direct Carrier Billing Coming To Android Market Soon

The Google Android Developer Blog announced that they plan to make app purchases made through the Android Market available through direct carrier billing. One of the reasons why many people do not like Android is because there isn’t a universal way to buy apps through the Android Market. There isn’t a date specified about when this feature will be added, but it is expected to happen by the next Android operating system update. T-Mobile is currently the only carrier that is able to directly bill Android app purchases. [Gizmodo]
17 Year Old Steven Ortiz Swapped An Old Phone For A Porsche

Seventeen year old Glendora, California resident Steven Ortiz used Craigslist 14 times over two years to do some swapping. Bartiz had an old cell phone that was given to him for free by a friend. Steven used the “barter” section on Craigslist to trade it for a better phone.
