The Google Android Developer Blog announced that they plan to make app purchases made through the Android Market available through direct carrier billing. One of the reasons why many people do not like Android is because there isn’t a universal way to buy apps through the Android Market. There isn’t a date specified about when this feature will be added, but it is expected to happen by the next Android operating system update. T-Mobile is currently the only carrier that is able to directly bill Android app purchases. [Gizmodo]

Seventeen year old Glendora, California resident Steven Ortiz used Craigslist 14 times over two years to do some swapping. Bartiz had an old cell phone that was given to him for free by a friend. Steven used the “barter” section on Craigslist to trade it for a better phone.

Geolocation check-in service Foursquare.com has hit 100 million check ins. Tristan Walker, Foursquare’s head of business development sent out a tweet about the news earlier this week. Foursquare hit another milestone recently: 1 million check-ins in one day. About two months ago, Foursquare hit about forty million total check-ins. [Mashable]

Despite the Chapter 11 bankruptcy, General Motors has soared from the ashes to acquire AmeriCredit Corp. for $3.5 billion in order to get back into the credit business. Of course GM’s survival might not have been possible without the $57.6 billion TARP program.

Earlier this week Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced that their profit has jumped 78%. The sales for the new Apple iPhone 4 and the Apple iPad tablet are very strong. The current quarter also has a very strong forecast. Apple’s revenue for the quarter that ended June 26th was $15.7 billion. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that Apple still has “amazing new products still to come this year.” Giddy up!

A Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) employee sent out a tweet about how the company is planning to give away free Windows Phone 7 devices to all 93,000 plus of Microsoft’s employees across the globe. This is a great way to build hype around the new devices. There’s no better way to spread how good a device is than actually showing it to friends and family. [Engadget]
