Google and Verizon’s Controversial Policy Framework Proposal

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Verizon Communications have announced a “policy framework.” The deal is that Verizon would be able to speed online content to certain Internet users if they are willing to pay for it according to The New York Times. A lot of people are outraged by this because the Internet has been a level playing field where content used by everybody moved around the same speeds depending on your ISP.

Through the Verizon and Google proposal, Net Neutrality would not exist for wireless networks. Certain websites would be blocked and there would be pay-for-priority treatment for certain applications.

Verizon would be able to decide the applications that would deserve the best quality of service. The Huffington Post believes this would hinder innovative applications.
