Google Street View Is Now On All Seven Continents

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched Google Street View on all seven continents. Not bad considering that the service is about 3 years old. Google Street View started in May 2007. Get Involved: Verizon HopeLine Program Benefits Victims Of Domestic Violence

I was just notified by Verizon Wireless about a program that they are spearheading called the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program. Verizon is collecting no-longed used wireless phone devices and equipment in any condition from any service provider. The material from the phones will either be recycled or will be refurbished into future devices.

PayPal Takes A Page From Chase Bank’s Mobile Application Book

PlayOn Now On Apple App Store, Powered By HTML5

PlayOn has been approved to the Apple App Store after developing an HTML5 video solution to their streaming web video service. PlayOn’s allows people to stream Netflix, Amazon.com, ESPN, Hulu, and CBS to their TVs, but the desktop software is currently PC-only. [Engadget]
Rypple Raises $7 Million To Improve HR Software

Rypple is working on developing new social software for human resources professionals. Rypple is a 2 year old start-up that has raised $7 million in funding from Bridgescale Partners. The company plans to use the new round of funding to expand upon their San Francisco office.

Star Wars Being Re-Released In 3D

George Lucas and Lucasfilm is having Star Wars re-released in 3D. The first movie to be released in 3D is The Phantom Menace in 2012. Fox will be distributing the 3D films. “Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right,” stated Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic John Knoll. “It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful. It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. Borders Group, Inc. (NYSE:BGP) has announced the Kobo 2 e-reader with WiFi at a low price of $139. This version has a faster processor and three new colors. The faster processor makes page-turning faster.

Paul Allen Joins Twitter

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) co-founder Paul Allen has joined Twitter. He is the second co-founder of Microsoft to join Twitter after Bill Gates. @PaulGAllen has been pretty active too. The account is being run by Allen’s spokesman David Postman. [CNET]
