Digg has hired Matt Williams as the new CEO. Williams replaces interim CEO Kevin Rose and former CEO Jay Adelson. Before Digg, Williams worked as an executive at Amazon.com.

“After several months of searching, we are excited to announce that Matt Williams will become the CEO of Digg,” stated Kevin Rose in a blog post. “As you know, I have been the interim CEO, while we looked for the right person, and I will still remain actively involved in the product, but am handing over the day-to-day running of the business to Matt.”

Williams worked at Amazon.com for 11 years. Amazon.com bought his company LiveBid.com around the time that he began at Amazon. The new version of Digg has not been welcome with open arms. In all of the recent polls, a lot of users are saying that they prefer the old version of Digg. Part of the reason for this is because the new version of Digg has been very buggy.
