HP May Be Acquiring ArcSight For $1.5 Billion

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) may be acquiring security software firm ArcSight for $1.5 billion. Based on ArcSight’s 34.6 million shares, this values the company at $43.34 per share. This is a 23% premium to the stock’s closing price on Friday.

This news arrives just a few weeks after HP won a bidding war against Dell Inc. for 3PAR at a price of $2.07 billion. ArcSight is based in Cupertino, California. They provide technology for preventing hack attacks against the business and the government.
