Craigslist announced earlier this week that the “adult services” section of Craigslist has been shut down. The changes are permanent.
Craigslist removed the adult services ads on September 3 after months of pressure from law enforcement officials. Craigslist director William Powell said the website has “no plans to reinstate the category.”
“Those who formerly posted ads in the adult services category will now have to advertise elsewhere,” stated Powell.
Currently the changes have only been applied to Craigslist in the United States. The erotic services currently remain on Craigslist in other countries. Craigslist placed a “censored” tag on September 3rd over the adult services section. The censored tag was removed a few days later.
