Motorola Buys Location Mobile Startup Aloqa

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) has acquired Aloqa, a private startup that develops location-based technology for mobile applications. The financial details was undisclosed. Aloqa raised $1.5 million in Series A from angel investors and Wellington Partners about a year ago.

Aloqa’s team will help enhance the MOTOBLUR user interface. Aloqa will be rolled into Motorola Mobility. Aloqa’s technology has the capability to offer deals, event information, and inform users of local places based on the location context.
