Location-based check-in service Foursquare has announced the Foursquare for Universities service. The program encourages students and staff to connect with each other through events, traditions, and landmarks. Each campus has a profile that users can follow. Currently there are about 20 universities participating. The current universities in the program include Harvard, Stanford, and Syracuse. Students and staff can share tips with each other too. Campus bookstores can choose to run specials as well. [VentureBeat]
