This is a blow to BlackBerry non-believers: Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ:RIMM) has sold a record number of BlackBerry devices this quarter. During RIM’s second fiscal quarter, revenues have increased 31% to $4.62 billion when compared to last year during the same period. RIM sold 12.1 million devices this quarter. This is a 45% increase in devices sold compared to a year ago. RIM now has about 50 million subscribers.

“We expect a continuation of this momentum in the third quarter as we extend the rollout of new products including the BlackBerry Torch into additional markets and benefit from heavy promotional activities and increasing customer demand as we head into the holiday buying season,” stated RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie.
