IBM Acquires Data Analytics Company Netezza For $1.7 Billion

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) has announced an intention to acquire Netezza Corporation (NYSE:NZ) for $1.77 billion. Netezza is one of Oracle’s Exadata competitors. IBM may use Netezza to broaden business analytics and date warehousing tools. IBM said that the deal to acquire Netezza is expected to close at the end of the fourth quarter. Netezza has about 350 customers. [ZDNet]
