Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has struck gold with the latest Xbox 360 title Halo: Reach. The fifth title in the Halo series will be the last made by the original team. Bungie will be handling future Halo games going forward. Critics have called the latest Halo version the best in the series.

3M Company (NYSE:MMM) has announced two new pocket-sized projectors. The MP160 and the MP180 pocket projectors have 30 lumens of brightness and built-in stereo speakers. Both are capable of projecting 800×600 pixels. The internal battery have 2 hours of single battery charge. The MP160 ships with VGA and composite video cables. The MP180 has WiFi, Bluetooth, 4GB capacity, microSD expansion, a touchscren, and USB port. The MP160 sells for $350 and the MP180 sells for $400. Both will be available in early October. OpenTable Inc (NASDAQ:OPEN) has acquired UK-based company Toptable.com for $55 million in cash. Toptable has 3,000 restaurants in the UK and 2,000 across the rest of Europe. OpenTable has 900 restaurants in the U.K. and 600 in Germany. This acquisition substantially increases the company’s presence in Europe. [GigaOM]

Craigslist announced earlier this week that the “adult services” section of Craigslist has been shut down. The changes are permanent.

Joyent is a smart computing solutions company that has raised $15 million in Series C funding. Joyent plans to expand international operations using the funding. Joyent is a platform-as-a-service cloud computing technology company.

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) has agreed to buy OpenPages. OpenPages designs risk-management software. The acquisition enhances IBM’s analytics portfolio companies. The financial details were undisclosed.

The newly released Nikon D7000 DSLR camera has a 16.3 megapixel sensor with 39-point autofocus. The camera also has dual card slots and ISO that is up to 25,600. Not bad for only $1200. The D7000 is a successor to the D90.
