Ad network VideoEgg has announced that they are acquiring marketing and blogging company Six Apart. Six Apart and VideoEgg will combine businesses and rename themselves to Say Media.

Ancestry.com has acquired iArchives.com for $27 million. This is Ancestry.com’s second major acquisition within the last 3 months. Earlier this year, Ancestry.com acquired Sweden-based genealogy website Genline.com for $6.7 million in cash.

Tecca [iTunes Link] is the first company to come out of Best Buy’s incubator division. Best Buy put Tecca together through a partnership with Fuse Capital. Tecca is an iPhone and Android application that compares Best Buy’s prices with other retailers. The focus of the application includes discovery (bar code scanning), research (user reviews, specs, etc)., and shopping price comparisons. Tecca makes money from affiliate sales. Things are looking good for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) from the browser-front. Microsoft reported that 2 million people downloaded Internet Explorer 9 Beta in the first two days that it was available. When IE8 Beta was launched in August 2008, Microsoft recorded 1.3 million downloads in the first 5 days.

eBay Marketplaces President Lorrie Norrington is resigning from the company for “personal reasons.” Until a replacement is found, the Marketplaces management team will report to eBay CEO John Donahoe. Norrington has been President of eBay Marketplaces since July 2008.

John Cook is leaving Yahoo! News blog The Upshot to return to Gawker. The Upshot hired Cook from Gawker this past April. “John’s a brilliant reporter, but he decided that he prefers the license Gawker gave him to add his opinions into his reporting to the scale and credibility Yahoo!
