National Geographic and Geo-Location Service SCVNGR Announce Partnership
National Geographic has announced a partnership with location-based social gaming company SCVNGR. National Geographic will be putting challenges and treks built into SCVNGR across multiple several of their branded properties. The properties include the National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Maps, National Geographic Museum and Kids Entertainment groups.
SCVNGR’s first partnership use will take place at the National Geographic Museum exhibition “Geckos: Tails to Toepads” that is open between now and January 5, 2011. SCVNGR users also will notice the partnership at the National Geographic Entertainment’s World Animal Day celebrations on October 16.
“By working with SCVNGR, we are able to create mobile innovative experiences that build affiliation and engagement within National Geographic’s global community and further spreads our mission of inspiring people to care about the planet,” stated National Geographic VP of Mobile Aaron Kohn. “We look forward to utilizing SCVNGR to create challenges that take our audience outside of individual properties through mobile ancillary content, taking them beyond individual Channel shows and leading mission-driven projects.”
National Geographic is creating the “Nat Geo” badges and other rewards after completing challenges on SCVNGR. You can learn more information here: http://www.natgeo.scvngr.com/.This article was written by Amit Chowdhry. You can follow me at @amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
