Brian McCrary Buys Police Dept’s Domain Name After Getting A Ticket

Usually when people get tickets, the first thing they try to do is take it to court to prove their innocence. Brian McCrary decided to take it a step further by buying the domain name,, that was owned by the Bluff City Police Department after he got a ticket in Bluff City, Tennessee. McCrary bought the domain name for $80 and posted his story on the website.

He also posted information about speed traps placed in Bluff City. The speed traps cost $250,000 per month. The police department did not know that their domain name expired and that McCrary bought it until reporters started to call them. Police Chief David Nelson attempted to buy the domain name back from McCrary, but it is uncertain whether they will reach an agreement.
