Nielsen: U.S. Teenagers Text 3,339 Times [STUDY]

On average, teenagers in the U.S. send out about 3,339 text messages per month according to a study by The Nielsen Co. Text messages are limited to 160 characters or less. According to the same study teens are also using more data on their phones.
Teens use an average of 62MB per month compared to 14MB from a year earlier. The only group of people that have been talking less on mobile phones during the second quarter are adults that are 55+.
Nielsen analyze the cell phone bills of over 60,000 mobile subscribers and surveyed data from about 3,000 teens.
