YouTube has just served 500 million promoted video views. Promoted videos are when advertisers can promote videos in search results and the YouTube homepage. This is a very similar option to AdWords for YouTube.

YouTube Promoted Video campaigns can be implemented in multiple countries and there is an API available. The API is in beta and is available in AdWords so ad agencies can manage the Promoted Videos in multiple campaigns. YouTube is now monetizing 2 billion video views per week, making the monetization rate up 50% year-to-year. This means that YouTube is almost profitable too. Google acquired YouTube in October 2006.
