Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has developed a QR code technology of their own and its called Microsoft Tag. Recently Microsoft sent out a press release to claim that they have surpassed 2 billion printed Tags since launching in January 2009. One billion of that number was printed in the last four months. Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is rumored to buy a building that covers a whole block in Manhattan. The building is 2.9 million square feet and would cost about $2 billion. The building is at 111 Eighth Avenue and is one of the largest buildings in Manhattan. The building is 18 stories high and is between Eighth and Ninth Avenue from 15th and 16th Street. Google already rents 550,000 square feet in the building. Other tenants include Nike and WebMD. [New York Post]

YouTube has just served 500 million promoted video views. Promoted videos are when advertisers can promote videos in search results and the YouTube homepage. This is a very similar option to AdWords for YouTube.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has reported a profit increase of 51% due to a strong demand for the PC operating system Windows 7 and Office 2010. About 240 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold in the first year of availability. Xbox 360 sales grew 38% and Bing.com is gaining search engine market share as well. During the quarter ending September 30, Microsoft had reported a profit of $5.41 billion, up from $3.57 billion one year earlier. Revenue also jumped 25% to $16.2 billion. Twenty year old Declan Sullivan, a junior from Long Grove, Illinois died at a hospital in South Bend after he was rushed there from a football tower that had collapsed from high winds. While Sullivan was on top of the tower, he sent out a tweet that said “Gust of wind up to 60mph well today will be fun at work … I guess I’ve lived long enough :-/” The message was posted to Facebook via Twitter as well.
