Lenovo To Launch A Tablet Called The LePad

Lenovo Group Ltd. is planning to launch a tablet computer called the LePad said CEO Yang Yuanqing. Lenovo is trailing a bit behind Apple (iPad), Samsung (Galaxy Tab), RIM (PlayBook), and Dell (Streak) in the tablet race as they plan to launch the device next year in the U.S. and China.

Lenovo also announced today that they are starting a $15.1 million investment program to support mobile application developers. Guangzhou Hua Yue Digital Technology Co. was the first company to receive support from the investment program.

Lenovo said this past April that they expect 10-20% of their revenue to come from Internet services within 5 years. Lenovo also launched a smartphone in China called the LePhone this past May. Lenovo was hoping to sell about 1 million units within a year.
