Google Launches Location-Based Recommendations Engine Hotpot

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched Hotpot, a location-based recommendation engine that has ratings and review features that is “powered by you and your friends.” Hotpot takes the ratings and reviews for establishments from Google Places and aggregates it with data from other sources such as Yelp.

Google is encouraging users to rate and review businesses from their Google profiles. However people can separate their Google profiles from their Hotpot profiles if desired. You can find Hotpot friends by importing your contacts from Gmail. Hotpot is Android-ready using Mobile maps.
