James Boyce and Peter Daou Suing Arianna Huffington Because They Say Blog Was Their Idea

James Boyce and Peter Daou, two Democratic consultants are suing Arianna Huffington and Ken Lerer claiming that the idea behind The Huffington Post was their idea. Arianna said that The Huffington Post was born after her and her friends were at a bar during the 2004 elections and “discussed creating a platform that would be a combination of 24/7 news and a collective blog. That was the beginning of the Huffington Post.”

Noyce and Daou said that the next day, they met with Huffington and Lerer to discuss a memo that Boyce had sent to Huffington. In the memo, there was a website outlined where “political luminaries and public figures should be invited to blog.” Then they said Lerer and Huffington shook their hands after the meeting and said “It will be great to work together.”
