Chen Jianping Sentenced One Year In Chinese Labor Camp For Retweeting

Chen Jianping had retreated a post that her fiance, Hua Chunhui, wrote about anti-Japan protests getting violent in China. In the tweet she also wrote “Charge, angry youth!” in Chinese. The Chinese government responded by sentencing her to one year in labor camp. Twitter is blocked in China, but Jianping was able to get around it using different tricks. Jianping’s lawyer said that she was being sarcastic, but it turns out that this argument was not good enough. [Mashable]
