Expedia Acquires Ann Arbor Based Travel App Company Mobiata

Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ:EXPE) has acquired Mobiata, a mobile application company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan founded by Ben Kazez. Mobiata had created the best selling mobile travel application on the App Store called FlightTrack. Mobiata’s FlightTrack was ranked a top 5 best selling travel application for 18 months straight. Mobiata’s revenues for this year is expected to hit $2 million.

“We are thrilled to be joining the biggest and best online travel company while maintaining the creative passion for mobile travel apps that makes Mobiata unique,” stated Mobiata President and Founder Ben Kazez in a press release. “Together with Expedia, we believe we can continue to revolutionize the way people plan, book, and manage travel – from anywhere on any device.”

Some of Mobiata’s other applications include TripDeck, HotelPal FlightBoard, and FareCompare. Mobiata will continue to operate in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mobiata currently has about 6 person team.
