Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has announced that they have 15,000 registered Windows Phone 7 developers. As of right now, they have about 3,000 apps on their app store. Since September, the number of Windows Phone developers increased by about 80%.
“Clearly we’re just getting warmed up” stated Microsoft Group Product Planner for the Mobile and Embedded Devices Division Todd Brix. “We know that many Windows Phone developers have gone to great lengths to ensure that their apps and games are in Windows Phone Marketplace this holiday season… We’re heading into one of the biggest shopping weeks of the year and we’re on pace to offer roughly 3,000 apps and games by the end of this week.”
Microsoft is promoting apps and games through listings on Bing Visual Search. Microsoft is also placing ads on the Windows Phone 7 app store on Microsoft.com.
