Mellanox Technologies announced earlier this week that they have acquired Voltaire for $218 million. Voltaire and Mellanox are both networking vendor companies so it appears that this is a horizontal acquisition. The deal is expected to close in Q1 of 2011 and is subject to shareholder approval. Voltaire and Mellanox are both known for selling Ethernet-based products. [PCWorld]
